St Peter's-in-the-Forest (E17 3PP) - come and join us!

Our Sunday services start at 10.00 am.

All-Age Communion on the 1st Sunday of the month

There is a mid-week communion service on Tuesday mornings at 9.30 am

There is a prayer box at Peterhouse; if you'd like us to pray for someone, please put a prayer request into the box and a member of the team will collect them weekly.  Prayers for those people will be said on a Tuesday morning at the 9.30 am communion service.

Collect, readings and prayers for Sunday 7th March -

Fair Trade Sunday; come and learn how YOU can make a difference.

THE COLLECT

Almighty God,
we want to be your followers, in step with you;
beating the rhythm of fairness and integrity
for our brothers and sisters throughout the world;
let us long to see justice done;
challenge us to get it right;
forgive us when we get it wrong.
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord. Amen.

Old Testament reading:    Isaiah 55:1-9

GOSPEL READING:                         Luke 13:1-9

PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION

Grant to us, Lord,
the compassionate heart of Christ,
that we may find ways of supporting
our sisters and brothers throughout the world,
brought nearer because we are one family under God.
May we be part of the joyful procession
that is working for your kingdom.
Help us to recognise that all people are one people
under the parenthood of God and that we belong to each other:
for your Spirit unites all those who long for your will to be done
and your kingdom to come on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.

BLESSING
Tilt the scales, O God of the mustard seed:
that the poor shall see justice. Amen.
Share the feast, O God of Eden’s abundant garden:
that each crop may fetch a fair price. Amen.
Upset the tables, O God of the upside-down Kingdom:
that the least can benefit from their trade. Amen.
Open our eyes, O God of life in all its fullness:
that we may learn to walk the way of your Son
tilting, sharing, upsetting this world
not satisfied until the products we bring to our table
give a better deal, to all who hunger for one. Amen.

During Lent, there is a particular focus on the 10 commandments:

THE 10 COMMANDMENTS
Our Lord Jesus Christ said, “If you love me, keep my commandments; happy are those who hear the word of God and keep it.” Hear then these commandments which God has given to his people, and take them to heart.

I am the Lord your God; you shall have no other gods but me. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength.

Amen. Lord have mercy.

You shall not make for yourself any idol. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth. Amen. Lord have mercy.

You shall not dishonour the name of the Lord your God.
You shall worship him with awe and reverence. Amen. Lord have mercy.

Remember the Lord’s day and keep it holy. Christ is risen from the dead: set your mind on things that are above, not on things that are on the earth. Amen. Lord have mercy.

Honour your father and mother.
Live as servants of God; honour all people; love each other. Amen. Lord have mercy.

You shall not commit murder.
Be reconciled to each other; overcome evil with good. Amen. Lord have mercy.

You shall not commit adultery.
Know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Lord have mercy.

You shall not steal. Be honest in all that you do and care for those in need.
Amen. Lord have mercy.

You shall not be a false witness. Let everyone speak the truth. Amen. Lord have mercy.

You shall not covet anything which belongs to your neighbour. Remember the words of the Lord Jesus: It is more blessed to give than to receive. Love your neighbour as yourself, for love is the fulfilling of the law. Amen. Lord have mercy.

Lord, have mercy on us, and write all these your laws in our hearts.
